Everyday we are asked, "What does it take to have my website rank at the top of the Search Engine’s results?" Because of the popularity of this question, I wrote this FREE Online Course about Search Engine Submission and Optimization that is called “The Insider Secrets To Being Ranked At The Top Of The Search Engines!” In this Online Course about Search Engine Ranking we are going to discuss things such as:
Many people build great websites, yet they never make a profit online because their website cannot be found by the general public. I wrote this Search Engine Optimization course so that the average person, businessman, or web page designer would be able to utilize and understand all the Optimization techniques that Search Engine companies use to make their client's website rank at the top of the Search Engine's results, as we do. Several people have told us that they have tried getting their website ranked at the top of the most popular Search Engines such as:
No matter how many times they have tried submitting their website to the Search Engines, they never have any luck being ranked anywhere near the top of the Search Engine’s results. It is very important to read every part of this lesson. If you find you have made just a single mistake in your website, there is an enormous chance you will never have your website rank high in the Search Engine’s results. For example, if you only read Lesson #3 and then try to apply just what you learned from that one lesson to your personal website, there would be an overwhelming chance that you would not see any changes to your website’s ranking. By analogy, if your car was without gas, then it would not be able to start. Likewise, if your car was without antifreeze then your car would overheat, and if you did not have transmission fluid, then your car would not be able to shift gears. My point is, you need to read and follow all six lessons of this Search Engine Submission course if you expect to be ranked at the top of the Search Engine’s results. Now, let’s get started with Lesson #1 of the Search Engine Submission course.
Many people will resubmit their website on a weekly or monthly basis to ensure that the Search Engines recognize how serious they are about marketing their site online and being ranked "HIGHER" in the Search Engine's results. Other website owners have taken the step of resubmitting their website to the Search Engines to an extreme by resubmitting their website several times a day. These people believe this will "force" the Search Engines to recognize how serious they are about having their website rank higher in the results. This idea never worked and never will. Some companies even sell "Automated Search Engine Submission Software" to their customers, stating:
The previous statement is untrue because in reality, it does not help rank your website higher within the Search Engines. Constantly resubmitting your website to the Search Engines and over-submitting the site will cause a red flag to occur regarding your particular website. This process is known in the trade as "Spamdexing" because you are in one sense “spamming” the Search Engines trying to be “indexed” in their database. In fact, they may even take action against your website and rank your website LAST on their list of web page results or even, in some cases, DELETE it from their database. So, how do you know if you are submitting your website to the Search Engines too often? Regardless of whether you are submitting your website to the Search Engines every hour, every day, every week, every month, or even every year, unless you are telling the Search Engines that you have made changes to your website, then you are resubmitting your website to the Search Engines too often. Resubmitting your website to the Search Engines only helps you to ensure that they will notice you optimized your website and therefore, will take note of the changes that you made to your site. The Search Engines will decide how high to rank your website in their results by such things as:
(These things will be discussed in greater detail in Lessons #2 – #6.) In order to have your website ranked "HIGH" in the Search Engine's results you will need to focus on optimizing your website correctly. Then, and only then, will the Search Engines realize that you DO have an important website that DOES deserve to be ranked at the top of their Search Engine results.
To find out more about Web Position Gold and how it can help you rank your website at the top of the Search Engine’s results go to:
In Lesson #6, we will discuss how all of the different Search Engines actually work, which ones work in conjunction with other Search Engines, and which ones you need to submit your website to first.
Some website owners are paying to list their website in Search Engine databases, instead of just submitting their website to the Search Engines for free. They think by paying the Search Engines to list their website for them, their website will be ranked much higher in the Search Engine’s results. Although this sounds believable, the Search Engines have never functioned in this manner. Some Search Engines do their best to make the general public think that paying them to be listed in their database will accomplish more hits, a higher ranking, or a significant increase in their over all number of sales. However, paying to be listed in the Search Engines only means that you are paying the Search Engine to index your website in their database and nothing more. Paying to be listed only verifies that the Search Engines DID find your website and that they DID list your website in their database to suggest to others. It has NO effect on how "HIGH" your website is ranked in the Search Engine’s results. The only advantage to paying the Search Engines to list your website in their database is that their Search Engine will revisit your website on a daily, or weekly basis (instead of a monthly basis), to see if any changes have been made to your website. This is very beneficial to you because it allows the Search Engines to determine if you have made any changes to your website that they need to take note of on a regular reoccurring basis. At the Webpage Publicity Agency, we always pay for our client's websites to be listed in the Search Engines because we want the Search Engines to tell us as soon as possible if the changes we made to our client’s website got their website ranked above their online competition’s website. Simply put, we do not want to wait a month every time we update our client’s website to find out if the changes we made to their site improved their ranking results. Now, as for paying to be "Ranked" in Search Engines, this can mean two totally different things depending on if you are paying the "Search Engines" to rank your website, or if you are paying a "Search Engine Optimization Specialist," such as the Webpage Publicity Agency, to rank your website. You see, paying to be "Ranked" by the Search Engines refers to paying the Search Engines to rank your website at the top of their results. In other words, a website owner would pay the Search Engine either a "Cost-Per-Click" fee (where someone clicks on your website through their Search Engine and you are billed for each click) or you are billed on a regular monthly basis to remain ranked at the top of their results. For instance, notice how I have asked Google to search for the Keyword phrase “web page hosting.”
Also, notice the first two web pages listed in Google’s results are both in BOLD? The reason that Google does this is to show the general public that these two web page companies actually PAID Google to be ranked in the top of their Search Engine results under the keyword phrase "web page hosting." They did not EARN their way to being ranked at the top of Google’s results under "web page hosting" like “FortuneCity.com.” A different kind of website Ranking System is a company known as Overture.com.
With Overture, you not only have to pay to be listed in their so-called "Search Engine", but Overture decides how high to rank your website in their Search Engine results by how much you are willing to pay them on a “cost-per-click” basis, and not how well your website was optimized for the Search Engines. Being billed on a “cost-per-click” fee means that no matter how many times your website is visited by the same person over and over again through Overture’s Search Engine, Overture will constantly bill you for every time the same person clicks on your website through their Search Engine’s results. We, at the Webpage Publicity Agency, do not recommend our clients list their website with Overture because Overture’s Search Engine usually has poor results. For instance, the last time I asked Overture to search for something that had to do with "Disney" their search results did not list www.Disney.com’s website as the first suggestion in their results. Instead, they listed www.Disney.com, as the 79th suggestion. The reason for this was because there were currently 78 other websites that wanted to pay a higher price to be listed under the keyword “Disney.” The businesses with the “highest advertising budget” are listed at the top of Overture’s Search Engine results instead of the websites that have the “best information” on your subject. It would be better to think of Overture as a "Pay Engine" instead of an actual “Search Engine,” as they are exactly like an online Yellow Page Directory. As you can see, paying to be "Listed" with the Search Engines will not help your website rank higher in the Search Engine's results and paying to be "Ranked" is not the best answer either. My intention of writing this course, “The Insider Secrets To Being Ranked At The Top Of The Search Engines” is so you will be able to learn what it takes to optimize your website correctly-guaranteeing that it "EARNS" its way to top of the Search Engine's results without you having to spend a single penny in advertising.
Your web page’s Keyword Meta Tags used to be the “key” to having a good ranking in the Search Engine’s results. However, today they play just a marginal factor in your website’s ranking. In fact, 99% of all of the major Search Engines are now ignoring your Keyword Meta Tag altogether and paying no attention to them at all. The reason most of the Search Engines no longer read your web page’s Keyword Meta Tags is because some time ago practically everyone was trying to cram in as many keywords as they possibly could. The Search Engines would refer to this as “Spamdexing” and then either pay no attention to the web page’s Keyword Meta Tag or often rank that particular web page LAST in their list of Search Engine results. Again, "Spamdexing" is SPAMMING the Search Engines trying to be INDEXED under as many different keywords as possible which have nothing to do with your website. For example, below you can see what I am referring to by Spamdexing the Search Engines with too many words in your Keyword Meta Tag that have to do with “dogs.”
Search Engines are designed to find SPECIFICALLY what the general public asks them to search for. They are not designed to find the web pages that have the broadest description and the most keywords within their Keywords Meta Tag. No one can be a professional Auto Mechanic, while being a professional Auto Dealer, a professional Auto Safety Engineer, a professional Auto Stereo person, and a professional Auto Designer. A professional is noted for their one or two specific talents. The same is true with your website and your web page's Keyword Meta Tag. You do not want to focus on every single keyword phrase that you can possibly think of that relates to your website. Instead you want to focus on what your website specializes in and the keywords that your customers are using to find your website on the internet. It would be silly for us, at the Webpage Publicity Agency, to try and have our website ranked #1 in the Search Engines under every single word that had to do with “Marketing.” It would also be ridiculous for us to try and be ranked at the top of the Search Engines under every single word that had to do with “Web Page.” This would be a bad idea because 99% of the general public on the internet that asked the Search Engine to search for “Marketing” or “Web Page” would be looking for other things that had to do with “Marketing” or “Web Pages,” and that did NOT relate to “Web Page Marketing.” My point is, you need to define exactly what your web page is about by using the keyword phrases that the general public is asking the Search Engines to search for when they are looking for your online business. Then focus on using every form of that Keyword Marketing Phrase within your web page in order to be ranked high in the Search Engines.
Click Tracks not only tells you what keywords the general public asked the Search Engines to search for when they found your website, but Click Tracks also tells you what pages within your website the public went to first and how long they stayed on each web page. Click Tracks will also tell you how many customers came to your site from each individual Search Engine and if any of the Cost-Per-Slick Search Engines were actually effective for your online business financially or not. Click Tracks will even keep track of all of your online banner advertising on other people’s websites telling you which sites are bringing in the most traffic to your online business. To find out more about Click Tracks and how it can help you find the most operate Keyword Marketing Phrase for your online business go to:
Some people refer to them as "Bridge Pages," "Portal Pages," "Jump Pages," "Gateway Pages," "Entry Pages," and several other types of "Page" names. Regardless of what they are called, a “Doorway Page” is a web page that is specifically made to work in conjunction with the Search Engines to help them rank your website much higher in their results. Doorway Pages are most often used by Search Engine Optimization Specialists as a “quick fix” to get their client’s website ranked up at the top of the Search Engine’s results instead of taking the time to optimize their client’s website correctly. A Doorway Page will most often be a web page without any frames, scripting, or coding of any type. It is usually just a plain, clean cut web page with maybe one graphic. For example, it may have your company’s logo for identification purposes along with a link down at the bottom that says something like “To enter our website Click Here;” as shown in the example below.
Notice how the web page above is very clean cut and has one graphic at the top with some very simple text for the Search Engines to read. The important feature is the hyperlink down at the bottom of the web page that reads <Click To Enter>. It is assumed because Doorway Pages are simple for the Search Engines to read, being clean cut with hardly any graphics or complicated HTML coding, they allow your website to be ranked at the top of the Search Engine’s results. However, this is not the best way to get your website ranked at the TOP of the Search Engine’s results. There are several disadvantages to having Doorway Pages built for your website. The first important one is if your Doorway Pages are ever deleted from the Internet or taken down by the person that built them for you -- you will instantly loose your high ranking in the Search Engine’s results. Another disadvantage to Doorway Pages is they have absolutely no value to the general public. Therefore, the general public will never want to link to them, read them, or tell other people about them. A Doorway Page is just another web page that is standing in the way by preventing your customers from being able to easily access your website and find out what your online business is all about. Frequently, I send clients to websites that have Doorway Pages. After visiting the website, they E-mail me stating how they went to that website but did not see anything on the website except a little bit of text, and that was all. In other words, all they saw was the Doorway Page and nothing else. Having a Doorway Page is like having a major-chain retailer leave all of their products in their shipping boxes instead of unpacking them and displaying them on their shelves. If this were the case, the public would be discouraged having to open each shipping box to search for the merchandise they wanted to purchase. Doorway Pages can be an annoyance to your online customers and put a bad image on your online business. Instead of building a Doorway Page to your website, it would be much more effective to correctly optimize your website. I have debated with many webmasters on the issue of “Jump Pages,” a type of Doorway Page that uses JavaScript and causes the page to instantly “jump” or “redirect” a visitor to the official web page of a particular website. The most serious problem with Jump Pages is that the Search Engines hate them and will not list Jump Pages within their Search Engine results. The Search Engines will not list Jump Pages in their Search Engine’s results because they have learned that many people try to trick the Search Engines into believing that their web page is about something that it is not; for example, a pornographic website disguised as a computer business. As you can see, there are many problems in using a Doorway Page in an attempt to have your website rank at the top of the Search Engine’s results. By correctly optimizing your website from the beginning you can avoid the many pitfalls of a Doorway Page.
The reason websites with these special effects using JavaScript will have trouble being ranked "HIGH" in the Search Engine’s results is because the Search Engines CANNOT read a web page that is full of JavaScript! The Search Engines read a web page by the “HTML” coding that the web page is composed of and not the “JavaScript” coding or how cool it looks. In fact, if you build your web page using a lot of JavaScript, most Search Engines will not even record your website in their Search Engine’s database. I often tell students in my Search Engine Optimization classes that:
Take a look at the example below of what JavaScript language looks like. I have copied and pasted some JavaScript coding that is used for making a Time Clock appear on a website.
Even though a time clock would have nothing at all to do with the information or products that you would be selling on your website, the same thing applies to any website that is made up of JavaScript coding. It would be made up of coding that is full of different commands and prompts that would make it virtually impossible for us to read the HTML coding. Therefore, if your website is built out of JavaScript, instead of HTML coding, then the Search Engines are NEVER going to rank your website high in their results. The general public never asks the Search Engines to search for things in JavaScript Language. Instead, they ask the Search Engines to search for things using the every day English language of which HTML coding is made up. There are some forms of JavaScript that make great selling tools on your website such as a countdown time clock, for example: “3 Sale Days Left” -until your sale ends, or when your website prompts the visitor to sign up for your newsletter, or download a free trial version of a software program. In those situations, I encourage our clients to use JavaScript in their website. The goal should be to sell products or services; not only to be ranked high in the Search Engine’s results. However, when it is necessary to add JavaScript (or special coding of some type) to your website, then it is best to be sure that your JavaScript is hidden from the Search Engines. To accomplish this just add the following: <!-- ... symbol at the beginning of your JavaScript coding (right above your JavaScript coding) and then the ... //--> ... symbol at the end of your JavaScript coding (right below your last source of JavaScript coding) as in the example below.
By adding this JavaScript "cover-up" feature to your web page’s HTML coding, you will make the Search Engines bypass your JavaScript coding. Now, just because you can hide your JavaScript coding from the Search Engines does not mean that you can use this “cover-up” feature through out your entire website and expect to be ranked at the top of the results. The Search Engines want to find out what your website is really about by not only reading your website’s Title, Description, and Keywords, but also the general text. If you built your entire website out of JavaScript, then used the “cover-up” feature to cover it all up, the Search Engines would have nothing to read about within your website. It is more important to build your website strictly out of HTML coding instead of adding special features made of JavaScript coding.
Search Engines only read TEXT within the HTML coding that makes up your website, instead of pictures or images. No matter how professional your Macromedia Flash presentation, the Search Engines will never be able to read your website. To have a better understanding of what I am referring to by building your website out of Macromedia Flash, go to:
Be prepared to sit back and relax for a few minutes as you wait for it to load. Using a 56K modem, it may take over 5 minutes to load! Because balthaser.com is nothing more than an online Flash presentation, there is no general text for the Search Engines to read within their website except for their Title, Description, and Keyword Meta Tags (found within their HTML coding). This makes it almost impossible for the Search Engines to rank balthaser.com high in their results. To prove my point, try this little experiment: try highlighting the text on their web page with your mouse or try holding down the ... “Control”... key on your computer's keyboard and then hit the ... “A” ... key on your computer's keyboard (this will "select all"). Did you notice there was nothing on the screen to select like there is on a regular web page? We L@@K at the text with our eyes, but the Search Engines can only READ the text from within your web page’s HTML coding. Now let us try a different experiment. Try going to www.WebpagePublicity.com and highlighting the graphics of our web page with your computer’s mouse (or hold down the... “Control”... key on your computer's keyboard and then hit the ... “A” ...). Did you notice how there were actually graphics to select on the screen this time? If you cannot highlight the text on the screen with your mouse, that means the Search Engines cannot read the text on the screen either. This is what you will experience when your website is built entirely of Macromedia Flash. Another drawback to building your website out of Macromedia Flash is that if your customers do not have the Macromedia Flash Plug-In downloaded to their computer, they will NEVER be able to see what your website is about. The problem with this is not everyone has the Flash Plug-In on their computer and not everyone is going to go through the trouble of downloading the plug-in, especially if they have never seen your website before. By building your website out of Macromedia Flash, it generally takes a LONG time for the Flash presentation to load. Normal websites load in three to five seconds over a 56K modem, but Macromedia Flash presentations can take anywhere from thirty seconds for small files to five minutes or more for larger files to load. No one likes to wait a long time for a web page to load, especially when they have no idea what your website is about. For instance, my experience was that my friend told me to go to Balthaser.com; I thought that my computer browser had locked up on me. I tried closing the program down and then re-accessing Balthaser’s website all over again. After I had gone back to Balthaser’s website three times, and it still was not loading for me, I finally decided to shut down and restart my computer. I then tried re-accessing Balthaser’s website all over again, but it still did not load. Finally, because it was a flash presentation, I figured it might be in the process of loading, so I sat back and waited. After 28 seconds, over our DSL Internet access, Balthaser FX’s website finally loaded for me. The only reason I went through so much trouble to find out what Balthaser.com was really about was because my friend asked me to go there. Normally, I would never wait that long for a website to load. So remember, if your website takes longer to load than the general website, that could mean the general public may never find out about your online business. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
